Tim Cook Says Sorry

Tim Cook certainly a down-to-earth person and not ashamed to take the punch, in my opinion, he is a 360 degree different management than Steve Jobs.

Tim Cook Apologies to frustrated iOS6 Apple map users, suggesting to use alternative maps like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps while Apple will work non-stop on their own map to make it better.
[quote]To our customers,

At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.

We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. As time progressed, we wanted to provide our customers with even better Maps including features such as turn-by-turn directions, voice integration, Flyover and vector-based maps. In order to do this, we had to create a new version of Maps from the ground up.

There are already more than 100 million iOS devices using the new Apple Maps, with more and more joining us every day. In just over a week, iOS users with the new Maps have already searched for nearly half a billion locations. The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.

While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.

Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.

Tim Cook truly down-to-earth

I respect leader who admit to their own mistake, flaws and promise to make things better.

Remember when we were young and make mistakes and we ask our parents to forgive us and we promise to be good and improve?

Tim Cook certainly a down-to-earth person and not ashamed to take the punch, in my opinion, he is a 360 degree different management than Steve Jobs.

I wish Tim Cook the best, I like the map but disappointed. I did my part in updating the location and address on my map.

Tim Cook suggests Google map?

No-Google-Map

    • You don’t see Steve Jobs says sorry very often in the public. He will always defense his products.

Perhaps the important thing to note, maybe learned from experience, he will not release a products that half cooked since the iPhone. It’s either customer don’t buy the idea, example Ping, or he sends the whole things back to redo example iPhone 4 screen scratches.

It is unusual for Apple to slot in two betas products (Siri and I consider Map a beta) and required Apple to make an open apology to the public when customers did not find the products work for them.

On the other hand, I think media & public at large are over reacted or over exaggeration. It is not like other Smartphone is flawless. I view this issue as a good lesson for Apple, Apple customers does require a higher standard for service.

  1. I like the pics for this post) Both of them ) And i’d like to mentiion again, for Ru they use Yandex Maps, which are not worse (and in some cases even better) than Google.. but i wont buy an iPhone anyway )

    • Good to know that Apple map with Yandex data is doing great in RU. Did your friend have it and try iOS6?

Would it possible to convert you to iPhone?

I am just worried, in case you got your hand on the iPhone for free (if you’re lucky – who knows?) You might love it and won’t turn back! Okay maybe you would still keep your Android and rooting it, not really a problem for you, I never doubt that, but I bet you will use the iPhone more than your Android phone for work and for serious stuff.

      *evil laugh*

Thanks for liking the photos, especially the second photo *laugh*

      • i ve seen news and reviews about yandex maps, i havent seen it myself. I’m not much a gadget fan/geek like you, i had plain phone i ve used it to make calls, i had a windows ce smartphone – i ve used it to make calls and nothing else, now i have LG with android… and i still dont use all the features it can offer, i doubt i want to buy an iPhone just to make calls
There are no iPhone5 sales yet and it will be quite expensive ~ 4000 RM or so..

        http://www.svyaznoy.ru/catalog/phone/225/apple look

        4S 32 Gb 34900 rbl (around 3490 RM i think)
thus iPhone does NOT officially support LTE networks in Russia and traffic is quite expensive with most of operators. In 2 words – iPhone for me looks like “money waste”

        • Ma’am, i am totally agree with you, but i have make some remarks.
I have use a mobilephone only for calls too, and it is a reason why i have got my Nokia 110. But i need some advanced gadget additionally. I do not like android because with os is not aesthetic for me.
I like ios, but… it is not mean that i’ll buy iPhone as necessarily.
I’ll better buy ipod touch , which is an iPhone, but without a sim card, and it costs 4-5 times less

Only 8k rbls vs 34k rbls . 26K – is a difference which i can spend for a leggings and underpants.

        • Sounds to me, you own more Smartphone than I! hahaha I do not have a Windows Smartphone. I may get one in the future.

          • Just because i had a WinCE smartphone? I’d like to call it dumbphone instead, very little compatible apps, it was able to run JavaME, so i ve used ICQ… i think that was all ) Fast battery discharge due to running apps (system ones!), it was just awful, got problems with accessing SD card even, i doubt i ever get a windows on a phone in future, even if “Windows Phone” is almost full remake of WinCE, only kernel is derived from WinCE
