Jailbreak iPhone 4 iOS 5.01 Celcom Maxis and Digi for Learning Purpose

Before we start – Jailbreaking is legal. Apple had a long battle with the authority to stop consumers from jailbreaking Apple iPhone but the feds say mobile-phone jailbreaking is OK in July 2010.

You probably won’t read the lengthy iPhone software license agreement but still you need to know – It does not permit you to do so.

Thirdly – jailbreaking your iPhone void the warranty. So you’re on your own if you brick your iPhone.

Extra Note – You need to understand that jailbreaking maybe degrading the experience instead of making your phone productive. Most people jailbreaking their iPhone for free apps download and I do not condone such behavior. I never steal apps I bought all the apps I like. Also downloading apps from unauthorized/unkown sources may put you at risk of malware.

Only iPhone 4 with iOS 5.01 installed. (DO NOT use it on iPhone 4S)

redsn0w Jailbreak

Step One

Turn off your iPhone 4 and plug in the phone to your computer with iPhone USB cable.

Step two

You need a jailbreak tool from iPhone DevTeam – it is call redsn0w. As of this writing version redsn0w 0.9.10b3 for Mac and Windows is available.

Follow the on screen instruction and once finish you should see Cydia on your iPhone.

Step Three

Install Corona 5.0.1 Untether via Cydia. Touch Cydia >Search > type Corona 5.0.1 Untether. If you have problem installing this via 3G internet please switch to WIFI connection – if you still fail please try again some other time. mean while your jailbreak will still be running as usual.

Layman term for Untether simply means your iPhone will not go back to normal state every time you reboot your phone. You don’t need a computer every time you reboot.

Step Four

Congratulation! Your iPhone 4 is jailbroken. Play around with it by installing theme for your phone and showoff to your friends 🙂
