Is the new 2017 iPad (5th generation) worth it?

The short answer is yes. Long answer is still yes. If you want an iPad really bad (or not) but do not have the extra cash, this is a better deal than buying a second hand iPad. The older generation iPad is still fetching a pretty good resale value and thus this new iPad pricing might be really for you if you want something new and affordable.

New 2017 iPad is simply called — iPad. This may be the iPad Air (5th generation) successor. According to some nerd on the internet and as well through the tech specs on iPad website, 2017 iPad is everything an iPad Air (5th generation) to be but with an upgrade internal. Umm its like “iPad Air S” — like iPhone 6 to 6S plus upgrade!

What’s the upgrade? (iPad Air vs. iPad 2017)

This is an awesome iPad Air S upgrade circle for the year 2014 made possible in the year 2017. The major component that made iPhone 6s possible in 2015 are in a larger screen size for Spring 2017.

What you need to know before you buy — the missing special features

No Apple Pencil support,
No smart connector for a keyboard,
No four stereo speakers,
No wider colour gamut (Displaymate review)
No True Tone Support

Is the iPad 2017 worth it? For the price of RM1549 — I think it serves an interesting price point for many people. If you want a “special features” to go with your iPad, you have to almost double the price to get it.

This is FAQ taken from Apple website;

Which cover or case should I use?
The iPad Pro Smart Cover, iPad Pro Silicone Case, and Smart Keyboard are made for the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. The iPad Smart Cover is compatible with iPad (5th generation), iPad Air 2, and iPad Air. The iPad Air 2 Smart Case fits only iPad Air 2. The iPad Air Smart Case fits only iPad Air. The iPad mini Smart Cover and the iPad mini Smart Case work with iPad mini, iPad mini 2, and iPad mini 3. And you can purchase a Smart Cover or Silicone Case that is compatible with iPad mini 4.
