Cleaning Computers & Gadgets Accessories Best Practices

Cleaning gadgets accessories

Do you take the cleanliness of your computers and gadgets’ accessories priority?

Making sure your accessories clean at all time can pro-long and stay durable for long-term use. It also makes your gadgets look brand new too.

I cannot tell the numbers of time I saw a very dirty charger cable, USB cables, mice, and all things digital gadgets that never been clean from day one. If you’re using Apple cables & docks, the white in color accessories gets noticeable when it is dirty.

I’ll give you a couple of my own best practices, how I clean my gadgets in this post.

Recycle cloth & multipurpose cleaner

I use recycled cotton towel for cleaning and with a multipurpose cleaner I clean the recycle towel thoroughly and I’ll repeat the step second time, this time I’ll squeezes out the water but not too dry with the multipurpose cleaner still retain it’s strength for cleaning. (Take care not too much multipurpose cleaner and make sure you’re not allergic to the cleaning chemical)

I clean all my cables from gadgets to Samsung TV cable, dry box cable, DVD player cable, extension wire, and anything that attract dust and stains.

I would do this once every two weeks or three. If you continue the routine frequently your cleaning gets easier and shorter time to get things done.

Apart from cleaning, how do you keep your accessories clean at all time?

Plastic Bag

I keep all my less frequently use cables in a plastic bag. This will keep the clean cable from dust and less cleaning in the future. Some of the adapter (like in the photo – Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter) I even make clothing for it.

Recycle your girl friend cosmetic bag

You can get this very easily. I have a lot of it and I use it to store my MacBook charger cable and USB cable when I am out and about.

Use recycle bag to cover anything

I hate dust, I cover everything (like in this picture) I know many of you just lazy to do it. The easiest is probably to use a cloth. Cloth however, attracts dust over time too.

  1. Bananaz uses the same plastic shield which came with my iMac from day one. Will only sweep the keyboard & screen with a shaving brush. Salute you for all the trouble wiping the wires clean.

    • Bananaz, shaving brush? I never use one. That’s a cool kit, is the brush hard? Will it create a scratch mark on the screen?

I am compulsive cleaner, cleaning makes you slim! Try that hahahah

      • Not too sure if its called a shaving brush. The kind of brush you may get to see at any Indian barber shop its very soft. Hopefully will not scratch the screen coz didn’t see any marks. Used it for clearing the dust only and damp cloth for wiping the screen thereafter.
