That would be 9 billions years later. When that happen Sun would expend so big that it turn red and eventually eating Earth alive. Scientist calls the expending sun as Red Giant. Red Giant would become so large as to engulf Earth.
After that, sun would explode!
What happen after Sun dies? Sun would become the most beautiful and bright beaming white light, which the scientists call White Dwarfs.
White Dwarfs content the pure material shinning the universe that was precious known to men!
Those shinning materials are the trillion caret of diamonds floating in the universe.
What happen to life of universe could be seen as a sad love story but every life would end and so the universe itself. When the stars running out of hydrogen, life building would stop, the universe would once again be dark.
Scientist believes we are living in the golden moment where life has just begun. 9 billions years from now the world that we once know will part with the Sun and the rest of stars will also be parted from the universe itself as the hydrogen run out.

a bit wrong, Sun is a small star and is relatively cold to explode,
it will grow into red giant and then it will squeeze itself into a small (Earth size) white star, which will persist for long time.
And at all: noone lives forever, even stars.
Billions years is a large period, the universe itself is 20 bil. years old, the Sun is 6 Bil Yr old, Earth – about 5, the mankind ~ about 30k, the mankind with known history around 3k years, the new era – just about last 200 years, when people turned to progress instead of blind religion. Things happen fast, noone can predict what will happen in a year or more, even tomorrow isnt always clear ) And you talk about billions years 😉
9 billion years later..great that means nothing gonna happen in 2012..haha.
No nothing would happen to us but I still not so sure about that hahaha. The Sun may not kill us but people do LOL
