User of PasswordBox will soon be able to unlock the master password with Samsung Galaxy S5‘s fingerprint scanner, according to their blog post. (I received the news via the company’s newsletter.)
It’s a good news for PasswordBox users, but I guess the rest of us will just continue to use the ancient proven technology; key in the password manually or maybe we can invest in Nymi, maybe. Having a device to remember your master password is definitely better than auto signed in with a browser or smartphone app.
The most under-hyped password manager has one unique feature that I think really worth mentioning. That is Legacy. Legacy allows you to set a trusted person to manage your PasswordBox in the event of your passing. Now, in order for PasswordBox to transfer the second-bank grade encryption key to you, you must provide a death certificate.
What if you do not want to provide death certificates? Can we use a dead person’s fingerprint to unlock the password manager with fingerprint scanner on a Samsung Galaxy S5? As far as the iPhone fingerprint scanner is concerned, you need a warm body to unlock (cat, dogs, private parts, nipple all are tested) What about the Samsung Galaxy S5?
Nevertheless, PasswordBox is still the best (bummer no dropbox support yet) and free password manager that I enjoy using.
