New D-Link DSL-2750U Wireless N ADSL2+ 4-Ports Wi-Fi Router
My D-Link DSL-2750U, I have to admit, after using it for a few hours this is probably one of the best wireless internet I have ever used. The strong signal really makes the browsing experience different, I mean it’s incredible fast!
Previously I was using D-Link (DSL-2640B) Wireless G ADSL2+ 4-Port WI-Fi Router which was free with Streamyx sign up.
Going Wireless G to N
The biggest noticeable improvement for me is the wireless coverage signal. Compared to Wireless G, connection in my room is less stable while Wireless N excels far better and It feels like LAN speed to me.
I did a speed test LAN vs. D-Link Wireless N vs. Aztech Homeplug AV and the results were astonishing.
Since Jun 2007, I have quite an affair with modems. The first modem I bought in 2007 still working while the rest – RIP due to electric surge/ thunder.
USB Port
The biggest extra on D-Link DSL-2750U was the USB port. The USB port allows you to connect your printer, flash drive, storage drive and your 3G broadband adapters.
I have not tried them myself but I really want to set up a media player for my Samsung 40” HDTV and see if the USB port would really work with my network attached storage (NAS).
Value for Money
At RM160 (price in Kuching) – I think this is considered a fair price. The modem builds in with a USB port, 4 LAN ports, WI-Fi routers + modem, wireless N feature and other usual accessories that come in the box.

i also just change my router from 2640 to 2750u. the problem is with this new router, the wifi range got weaker. i used to get wifi the whole house till the 2nd floor. now i cant even get connected from the kitchen. pls help

I have no experience for you to tweak your modem. Logically, it should work the same or even better with 2750U but apparently it doesn’t work for you.

2 antenna’s.. How much speed you can get in wireless file transfers? (not your ISP speed… something local)
Im not sure. Anyway to check without connecting more than one PC to test the speed? I am happy with this unit it really fast even when I close my bedroom door. My modem is direct connect to telephone line and situated in the living room, my previous Wireless G has a very bad reception and connection time out very often.
Wireless G is okey for me now (ASUS WL320ge) , i’m just thinking about better speeds for my home LAN, G is quite enough for Internet access
Well I would like to say it’s a faulty modem.
I bought it during 2011 September. It lead me to tons of problems with it after 2 months. Well. The I put a USB Laptop under it as it has a USB port to cool it. Also I replaced the Power Adaptor as I accidentally splintered the bad protective rubber layer from the wooden floor.
During 2 months later, during the period when the internet cable in the SEA broke, it made my router faulty on each restart. It will automatically becomes unconfigured once restarted. In each restart, I had to pull out the telephone cable for like 2 minutes until the DSL led slows down. Then plug it back in.
You mean your D-Link (DSL-2750U)?
I use that one (same as your picture shown) two years ago – thunder claim his life so short live after paying almost 200 ringgit for it I think.

design is very same for all their devices
Most modem look the same from version to version hahaha most modem manufacturer has no taste. To them the modem is a thing – plug and forget.
However some new modem are adapting the modern and iDevices feel.
not just same device category, all D-link SOHO market devices look same, routers, wifi aps, switches….
their old generation devices are silver, now they changed to black, thats all evolution in design during several years )
btw, i’m glad that you like wifi N, i wish to change someday too, but since everything works…
Still using ADSL too, on input – D-link 2400 BRU D (very simple and small modem-router) which works as modem only, as router i use small PC (with Dual Core Atom, 2GB RAM and 2 HDD’s as storage, 6 USB ports), then ASUS switch, 4 ports, metal box, wifi goes from ASUS WL-320G access point (itcan work as router too, but its in AP mode only)
That’s a huge set up lof of wiring hahaha I am so glad I don’t have to use a switches.
The last time I touch a switch was when I was working in KL. we have probably more than 50 PCs and seriously – switch sucks! sometime it works sometime it doesn’t and when it doesn’t work we just don’t know where it gone wrong.
Maybe it is the problem with Windows XP and maybe not – but am so freaking glad I don’t need it hahaha
Thanks to all the devices these day all came with wifi enable.
The wireless N is awesome – very very stable. we have 1 android phone, an iPad, 2 iPhones, media player and my Samsung TV connected to the unit – it work super fine.
The real stuff is the design with 2 sets of antenna – MIMO works really well! I almost bought a Wifi Routers with 3 antenna but I’m glad I didn’t it was expensive and I reckon – pairing it with my 2007 ADSL2 modem might not be such a good idea.
since a NIC has one jack, i have to use a 4 port switch, too many components can be confusing, but its more reliable and more customizeable than one device for everything.
router-PC runs generic OS (Gentoo Linux), i can do whatever i want with it )
