Unboxing D-Link AC750 (supports 4G LTE Maxis, Celcom…)

This is D-Link AC750, pretty affordable and packed with features. If you want to own a 802.11ac Wifi router, this may seem to be a bargain. If you loves D-Link products, this could be yours to keep too.

AC750 basically means the speeds of the N and AC technology combine. 802.11n @ 300Mbps + 802.11ac @ 433Mbps, thus AC750. The marketing term is confusing for a first timer looking for a good wifi router.

I did say this is an affordable and packed with tonnes of feature wifi router, but honestly, it’s has a very weak wifi signal. I returned this modem after testing it for less than 30 minutes.

This is the speed test that I’ve done. Living room with 2.4GHz & 5GHz and repeat the same for inside the bedroom. Bedroom (close door) 2.4GHz @ 6.26Mbps, 5Ghz @ 2.13Mbps and then in the living room where the wifi router was installed 2.4GHz @ 7.64Mbps and 5Ghz @ 3.11Mbps.

These test result makes me switch back to my good old TP-link TP8980 where both signal Band @ 2.4GHz and 5GHz has a higher test speed than D-link AC750. I seldom spend my time in the living room and I don’t really need a 4G LTE dongle to connect to the internet (I can always tether from my iPhone) therefore this wifi modem is not suitable for me.

This could be the wifi router you have been waiting for if you just want to switch to something better than the one your Telco provided. The fact that this wifi router support 4G LTE, it’s a great add-on if you run a business or for emergency.
