Remembering Tun Abdul Razak

Nazir: I think he would say that it is time to set up another national consultative council, like he did in 1970, to discuss critical issues around preserving harmony and fostering unity amongst Malaysians. I think he would be shocked that it is 2015 and race and religion divide Malaysians even more today than during his time. – January 14, 2015.

Sometime the good one really die young.

Much like Steve Jobs, he knew he was going to die young and that gives him enough driver to build Apple and leave behind a great legacy.

I guess if it wasn’t for Tun Abdul Razak leadership, the multiracial in Malaysia might not be easily achieved.

My favorite story is Tun Abdul Razak six days visit to China in 1974, successfully signed the diplomatic relations and in a way ending the racial tension between Chinese in Malaysia. It’s still warm my heart seeing Tun step out of MAS and was given a standing ovation.

The political scene in Malaysia and in the world today is very much a different place.

I hope Malaysia would be prosperous for many years to come.

Regardless who is the captain that steers the ship, we need to maintain the uniqueness of Malaysia; our multiracial country that was born with the sweat and tears of Tun Abdul Razak.
