I think Apple makes a big mistake huge error price calculation of iPhone SE for Malaysian market. I have observed Apple product pricing for a long time and I have never seen an overpriced iPhone after the currency conversion.
The iPhone SE starts from USD399 in the US, that’s roughly RM1562.941. Even if the currency were to be RM4.2/1USD it would still be cost only around RM1776.35 (after GST)
My advice for those of you who thinking to get iPhone SE in Malaysia, please don’t.
It’s simply overpriced.

maybe either it’s apple’s fault because of losing much when their iPhone sales being to low, or Malaysia of providing too high tax percentage against the product, Nonetheless in Singapore iPhone SE is sold with a starting price 658 singapore dollar or 480 us dollar. that’s 20% increase from the US price. Just very very weird pricing by Apple maybe. Just my best guess
This is the first time I see Apple increased their pricing, way up high. One of the main reasons I can think of is they probably try to weather the currency exchange. ((http://techcrunch.com/2016/01/26/foreign-exchange-weighs-on-apples-q1-sales-to-the-tune-of-5b/))
I don’t think it sells well in Malaysia because we are hit by a very bad currency exchange and at the same time GST is indirectly increased the price by 6% for the consumer.
Without Telco support, The iPhone will not sell well. It’s suck to buy direct from Apple authorized outlet.
