Data
Something caught my attention, Nokia thrown in a class 33 GPRS/EDGE data hardware on N9. Most smart phone has class 10 or 12 like the one in Samsung Galaxy S ll. If my understanding is right, Nokia N9 may boost data speed downlink with 559.2kbit/s and uplink 236.8kbit/s on gprs/edge. This is one high-end, high multislot class mobile.

CPU/GPU
Perhaps the #1 wish list to all Nokia users would be a dual-core processor given that most newer Smartphone come with dual-core but unfortunately N9 is equipped with only 1GHz Cortex A8.

Interestingly N9 also uses PowerVR GPU series 5 SGX530 perhaps the same one that were use inside N900? Not sure why Nokia shy away from the latest component but this will definitely making the phone cheaper to produce.

SWIPE
The idea around swipe with no home button really set Nokia N9 to a new level and if you may allow, I think Nokia will make a come back to the market with this simplicity and ease of use. I really like the rounded icon and am impressed with the UI effect, while playing the video you can slowly swipe over the screen showing the background and video without a glitch. Fantastic!

The Bad
Here comes the downside. Apps and games developer may take sometime to decide if building one for Meego worth the sweat and while we waiting, we can still play some preinstalled games and apps.

In my opinion this is a Nokia own killer phone for now. I have never please with Symbian OS before and this is the first time I pay attention. I hope to see lot of goodies and updates coming along with Nokia N9 (Apps & Games) and would really want to test drive this phone when it released in Malaysia.

  1. Lily has N8 with Symbian and it sucks, always gets stuck. But the cam is awesome, that’s why she bought it. However, the new Galaxy has an awesome cam now, too. I think in a year smartphones will be even better and customer can choose iPhone, Nokia, HTC and Samsung, what a choice, huh?
