macOS Sierra Photos (Beta 16A238m)

Downloaded and installed macOS Sierra on my MacBook Air 11″. Damn, I just can’t wait, can’t I?. The first thing I look at was the Photos app.

For the first time ever, the Photos app is sync and arrange just like the one on iOS. This is long coming! I love it. It’s just don’t make sense for many years the Photos app doesn’t show the folder and photos like in the iOS.

When you first fire up the app, it’s really resources intensive. It will suck your battery to dry! I have 88% when I first open the Photos app, 20 minutes later it depleted my MacBook Air 11′ battery to 56%.

The AI is pretty amazing on the Photos app. You can now simply type in the search column say “water” and it will list all the photos that has water in it. Pretty cool!

The face recognition engine probably has no improvement in my opinion. Sure, it does work much better than iPhotos, but you still need to keep training the app the same face all over again. I think by the time you name the same person for the 3rd time, you would feel lazy to continue to train the system.

Personally, I welcome these updates. Me and my wife use the Photos app daily, we share photos of our girl a lot. With the A.I, I hope I can search for my photos of my choice instantly. No more, long scrolling for the specific photo from years ago. (It also means I need more iCloud storage!)
