Lazy Sunday Tech April 6, 2014 Mircosoft Build 2014 & Amazon Fire TV

My lazy Sunday points me to The Verge today. Read couple of their articles and I think Microsoft Build 2014 and Amazon Fire TV was really interesting. Until next lazy Sunday, I will see which site I’ll be reading.

Technology for the future will evolve way deeper into voice command. As cool as it can be, we are a long way to go to make it a perfect solution for everyone. Apple and Google seem to be getting there. Let’s see how things go within one or two years and I hope English rojak like me can command the computer and the computer recognize my broken English.

When I heard about Cortana; a personal assistant like Siri or Google Now, I thought it was really awesome because the podcaster was really excited about it. Now that I watch the video by The Verge, I think it’s just okay. I like the female voice of Cortana.

I’m impressed with the idea how that phone knows how many calories goes into your diet, though. It’ll be so helpful if Microsoft would add in the details of Kolo Mee, Wan Tan Mee and etc… It’s still in beta, during the presentation it does fail and maybe when it’s done it probably was the best as Microsoft claim.

Windows 8.1 updates were interesting. They bring back the Start button and taskbar. Wow! Everyone in the audience gets an Xbox One for free. Would I be using Windows 8 anytime soon? I guess not. The update seems promising for Windows and Windows phone users. Microsoft probably will succinctly pull off the stunt in making a universal app that works on phone and PC.

Nokia Lumia 930 has an optical image stabilizer and a surround sound recording? Wow, that’s cool. I might give it a jong when it hit Malaysia. Only if the price is reasonable.

I like how you can play games with a joystick that you can buy separately from Amazon. The voice command is cool too, but again during demo it also failed. If you’re a diehard Amazon customer, Fire TV is really your smart companion.
