Jess Boleh Malaysia Boleh!

Jess Lee Won Singing contest in Taiwan!

Jess Boleh Malaysia Boleh! 佳薇能马来西亞能! That’s exactly what she said in the finale show on her last performance that earn her the champion title for 2010/2011 超級星光大道 or “One Million Star” (some call it Superstar Avenue 7) singing competition in Taiwan last night.

The 7 years old shows was squeezed like a lemon juice amazed seeing the history in making for the first time in show biz Jess Lee from Malaysia earned four times – full marks (4 x 30 full marks) from the judges through out the shows from Aug 28, 2010 to 30th Jan, 2011.

In 2004 Jess Lee was audition for Malaysian Idol seasons 1 at that time I can only assume a star is born but no one notice the potential. Over the years she learned her mistake and that’s what makes her a well polished stone and now a diamond.

She definitely makes Malaysian proud and unfortunately her winning wasn’t that all hype in Malaysian local newspaper or TV news. Some even criticizing her for making Facebook ugly with trending on her news of winning.

Nothing come easy in life and I salute Jess Lee for all the efforts she put in and very importantly she proof herself she can do better and better.

Amazing singer and now she would joined many Malaysian artists in Taiwan making awesome living and make tones of money and we wish her all the best in her singing career.

  1. Jess Lee’s hard work all these years albeit her many setbacks in Malaysia has finally succeeded in Taiwan. Wish her more success and happiness from now onwards in her musical journey in Taiwan. Looking forward to her world tour concerts and new album release.

  2. After much thought I seriously feel that Jess is better off launching her music career in Taiwan. I searched about the current life of some singing reality show champions, they ended up becoming a radio DJ instead. Like a waste of voice talent.

Jess Lee won much through her own effort. Imagine what the Koreans do: invest heavily on spotted individuals to increase their chance of success. Furthermore they’re doing it like a mill.

Even for other industries, Malaysia is not a good place to train talent, seriously. Unless those wanna be theatrical politicians *jokes*

    • Jess should stand a bright future since Warners already signed her.

She had train herself to sing since she was 7 with her many years exposure she will do fine.

Not without new challenge but with the support of the great teachers she should fly to the greater high.

I think the competition in real life is even tougher especially when you have to face the barbie doll whose geting much more attention than the singing abilities.

I trust Jess will do very well like the rest of the Malaysian in Taiwan 😀

  3. Congratulation to jia Wei, she is so talented and her life in music industry has just begun. If we follow her progress from the malaysian idol up to superstar avenue 7, she has improved so much. Not only her voice control but also her expression, style, confidence : totally a new person, a superstar to be exact. Her records and outstanding achievement in this competition will remain unchallenged for a very long time.

Malaysia is not the right place for talented people like jia Wei especially on this industry. Fact of life, Malaysia is not really.
It is not about not being patriotic but Malaysia lack of resources, market, supporting professional etc will drag jia wei’s progress. Life is short, don’t waste time here. Just look at what happen to P.Ramlee after he decided to come back to Malaysia from Singapore and you will know what I mean. Another sad real story.

Jia Wei boleh! Will be waiting for Ur first ever song, album and grand concert! We are proud of u!

    • Thank you Swee Weng!

I am as excited reading your powerful energetic comment. The record she hold will definitely hold for a long time before some one come close to beat the scores.

I love P. Ramlee every now and than I watch his shows it still send me ROFLMAO. Miss his shows and I wish he still alive and doing what he do best. The film industry in Malaysia today wasn’t even come close to what P. Ramlee have done. *sad*

      Jia Wei Boleh!

  4. i think the judges from malaysia contest should be of non locals andn it should multiracial ie form each race represented, then there fairness.

reason being, if a non malay enter a malaysia contest being judged by malay, there will always be the pronunciation and diction issues plus the malay song swing (which even malay find it hard), unless the contest is done is such a way, they can only sing english song then its a fair ground.

if not mistaken, the 1st akedemi fantasia was won by a chinese vince chong, he was the BEST! still is…. fantastic family too.

    • Check out “Gemilang” Jess Lee sang during the competition in Taiwan.

Chinese in general have problems pronounce e.g. the “R” but I think singer do have the special ability to get away from the pronunciation. Practices makes the R sounds more melodic hehehe

Vince Chong is awesome! I didn’t know about AF not until my staff told me about it. It’s funny really. I was singing “kaulah satu-satunya, diantara berjuta, kaulah yang teristimewa!” My favorite chorus! I love to sing it that way and this staff come to me and clap clap than said wah! you look like Vince Chong!

That’s how I learned about Vince Chong starting that day this staff dub me as Vince Chong LOL.

I love the 90s Malays musician. I super love Sheila Majid “Lagenda” i think the original song was by P.Ramlee? No? I love M. Nasir writing and some other rockers like Wings, Search, Ella and many more. I don’t follow them any more though.

  5. EuroVision contest happens yearly, Mar
where every european country can participate, its about 60 countries now, which send their singers to contest, about 30 participants go to final show, the winner is determined by voting, each country gives 12 , 11 , 10 … 1 points to someone they like (most countries use voting by SMS), the host country is not the same everytime, its the country of the previous winner, this year it will be Germany, because of her (the last winner):

In general its a good show and the main musical event of the year in Europe.

    • In my opinion singing competition is almost the same. Never saw Eurovision before must be good!

You sing? hahahahaha would be cool if we can hear you sing!

@Nino is really a good singer! okay I never hear him sing before but I think he’s good. hahahhaha

  6. She’s a great singer!!! I will ask, if we can adopt her as Taiwanese, if Malaysian don’t like 😛 Taiwan boleh! Haha.. Taiwanese respect and cherish good singers, that’s why Taiwan is one of Asia’s main music industries. Now you know, why everyone comes to Taiwan to succeed and not Malaysia… different attitude to music.

    • That would be such a waste for Malaysia. Malaysia is a nice country but in certain areas it’s quite weird. classic example, music. We won the football Suzuki Cup and the next day our PM announced a public Holiday. (it was cool)

But when come to music even the local artist singing Malay songs are not doing so bombastic. Most Chinese singers would looks else way – Taiwan.

I’m glad these artist take the initiative in Taiwan and many have succeeded. It’s amazing that the judges is not bias toward their local talents – they really look at the individual talent not where they are from.

I like it when at one time the judges commented that some pretty face just can’t sing! Tao Ching-ying the host of the shows than ask the judges who are they referring to… anyway it was censored. That’s already itself shows they don’t care who you are so long you’re good at singing.

      Awesome! Proud of her.
