Another iPad 2 bug
New Security risk – iPad 2 Smart Cover lock/unlock feature may allow unauthorized user to gain access to your iPad 2.
I was inform by a friend this morning and forwarded me a link from 9to5Mac and I thought I should give it a try.
Unauthorized user can gain access to your iPad with smart cover while it was passcode locked. After testing it for few times – I found you can have access and use email, iMessage and etc… if you leave the app open before you lock your iPad. In case if you are reading something for-your-eyes only kinda material and your iPad got stolen or someone just want to take a peek at it – while you’re at the loo – could be a bad thing.
Well not shocking – Apple have the same problem last year with the lock button and emergency call to log in to your iPhone to access phone book and make call. [MacRumors Link]
CNet also reported how Siri can send message, e-mail, make call with your iPhone 4S passcode locked. [CNet Link]

You can temporary disable “iPad Cover Lock/Unlock” option to avoid this exploit.
Looks like Apple accidentally leave the door open. I’m sure this will be fix soon.

i’m not sure if this really a security breach, it still require physical access to device,
at least for short time, so the ‘hacker’ will be most likely a known person )
