Do you use your iOS calculator often? There are some changes both good and bad that you might be interested to know.

The new calculator has one special button that I have been hoping to get for a long time. Yes! The % button on a portrait mode. Like the electronic pocket calculator, keeping the main thing a main thing is important for daily speedy use while keeping the uniform experience between the pocket calculator and digital calculator on the iOS.

But here’s a bad news. The first row of the rest of the function was removed! MC, M+, M-‘ MR was removed from portrait mode, I don’t think that was such a good move. It is not broken, I don’t see any point for Apple fixing it.

The pocket calculator that we use (picture above) has the same design for decades and it’s still the best keypad layout for fast punching without looking.

It’s hard to say if this would turn out to be the final design that Apple use but It probably will since the screen real estate for iPhone 4 and 4S would look good at this size. On iPhone 5 however, Apple did not take advantage of the tall screen real estate.
