Streamyx Quick Setup (Innacomm W3400V6)

This how-to is for the antenna less orange modem (Innacomm W3400V6) that was supplied by TM. This is a Wireless G ADSL 2+ modem. The latest version Wi-Fi is Wireless AC and the becoming affordable good wireless is the Wireless N as of this writing in 2013.

Why TM provides Wireless G to me on my 2Mbps subscription is beyond me. I think TM being stingy and this modem is the worse TM modem ever. That said, this is probably the first ipv6 capable modem TM ever provided.

Step One: Log in to your modem with Mac or Windows

This is not your typical admin/admin login. It is slightly technical and if this is your first time, it may be confusing. The good news is, once you logged in the modem, the quick setup is really straightforward and easy to do.

  1. Open your browser and point to http://192.168.1.1
  2. Username: tmadmin
    Password: Adm@_ _ _ _ (followed by the 4 last digit of the Mac ID found on your orange box or underneath the modem it self)
  3. Select “Quick Setup Mode“

Step Two: Setup Streamyx connection with username & Password

  1. Connection Type: Select “Router mode”
  2. Type in your Streamyx username
  3. Type in your Streamyx password
  4. Select “Enable IPv6“

TM has since activated IPv6 for its customer. By enabling IPv6, it doesn’t make your internet connection superior; if you’re wondering. TM randomly auto assign IPv4 and IPv6 when you connected to the internet.

Step Three: Setup SSID

  1. Wireless ID: Give your wireless network a special name.
  2. Security Type: Select “WPA”
  3. Network Key: Type in a strong 13 characters password (Max 64 characters).
    (Pair with capital & small letter, numbers and special symbols ~!@#$%^&*() password)

Step 4: Verify details, click “Save” and you’re done!

  1. Thank you so much! Your entry really help me! But,I just wanna to ask, the streamyx username is given or not? If it is given, how i want to find the username? Why i can’t connect to the internet after following your step?

    • The Streamyx password and user ID was given to you after your Streamyx registration with TM. if you don’t have it, check your Streamyx bill, User ID should be listed on the bill. To get the password please call TM at 100 from your house phone.

    I have streamyx at my home bangi but not in my second house seremban. I’m planning to install my streamyx manually at seremban so the question is, Can i use the same streamyx account in the modem settings?

    I have another modem and plans to install streamyx manually at seremban using the same streamyx account (bangi).

    • Hi Low,

      You definitely can use the same setup. However, I am not sure if it works. (You can report of it works, if you happen to try it out)

      The reason why I am not confident it will work is because the account was link to the service number/ phone number.

      I never try it.

  3. Salam,sy telah menukar security router WEP ke WPA, semasa sy tukar WPA sy terus save tanpa mengubah password.apa password default WPA ye?

Selamat Pagi….Saya ada pertanya…I dah followed instructions di atas & instructions book but masih tiada internet access, di modem lampu DSL dengan Internet tidak menyala hnya lampu wifi & lampu “on” yg menyala..streamyx connection test status semua telah pass…soalan saya streamyx usename & streamyx password ini kita yang tentukan atau pihak TM yg tentukan? dan mcm mana nak dapatkannya? Terima Kasih.

  5. Hai.. Nak tanya. Saya dah follow semua step dan semua OK. Semua lampu menyala tetapi No Internet, connection limited pada LAN connection dan wifi connection.Apa perlu saya buat?

  6. hi nak tanya, i just installed tm streamyx, modem w7100n. technician kata kena tunggu around 30mins baru bolwh guna. tapi dah dekat 2jam tak boleh guna pun, dan takde satu light pun yang menyala. boleh tolong? or do i need to call tm?

      • Thanks for the reply. I have purchased TP-Link W8951ND. So far working fine. Seems like it is the standard model these days(at least in the mall that I went). Suitable for our local streamyx speed if stay in a small apartment(if bigger house then can try the 300mbps variant. Come with two antennas). This model comes with two years warranty too. Only RM69. Probably your other readers might be interested to try this model out =)

          • It is suitable for ppl who have a low budget in mind. haha. This 600mbps thing… Isn’t it unachievable yet in our country? Even like times also is offering only 100mbps. Whereas for streamyx it is probably around 20mbps only. Please correct me if I am wrong as I have limited knowledge in this field. Thanks =D

            • If you have a modem that supports 600Mbps, it doesn’t mean you must have a connection from ISP with a matching speed.

              The reason you also want a modem that supports higher speed and wider coverage is so you can stream contents locally. Example, a full HD movie that you store on your hard drive, songs, photos, lot of devices connected to your modem and etc… The more devices the more activity the better to have a modem that supports higher bandwidth modem.

              At home I stream movies with Apple TV, Kode (movie), full HD movie on my local, one MacBook, 2 iPhone, 1 iPad, and a one other phone. Sometime I stream with HyppTV for local news.

              The only time my fullHD dropped frame (local drive) was when I try to push higher bitrate.

              So that’s how I use my modem, modem like the one provided by TM will not work the way I want it to.

      Kalau cable boleh pakai, WiFi tak dapat – saya rasa hanya ada dua kemungkinan saja.

      1) configure salah
      2) modem rosak

  9. Hi there, was wondering if I’m going to change the wifi password using the steps you provided above.
    Do I have to reset the modem itself in order to do so?
    Or I can change it instantly?

  10. Hi. I followed the instructions. After completing, the internet still did not work. Then I found out that the problem was my line was barred. Now after tm restored connection, the internet still cant work. Should I redo the reconfiguration? What should I do? Pls help. Thank you
