Streamyx Quick Setup (Innacomm W3400V6)

This how-to is for the antenna less orange modem (Innacomm W3400V6) that was supplied by TM. This is a Wireless G ADSL 2+ modem. The latest version Wi-Fi is Wireless AC and the becoming affordable good wireless is the Wireless N as of this writing in 2013.

Why TM provides Wireless G to me on my 2Mbps subscription is beyond me. I think TM being stingy and this modem is the worse TM modem ever. That said, this is probably the first ipv6 capable modem TM ever provided.

Step One: Log in to your modem with Mac or Windows

This is not your typical admin/admin login. It is slightly technical and if this is your first time, it may be confusing. The good news is, once you logged in the modem, the quick setup is really straightforward and easy to do.

  1. Open your browser and point to http://192.168.1.1
  2. Username: tmadmin
    Password: Adm@_ _ _ _ (followed by the 4 last digit of the Mac ID found on your orange box or underneath the modem it self)
  3. Select “Quick Setup Mode“

Step Two: Setup Streamyx connection with username & Password

  1. Connection Type: Select “Router mode”
  2. Type in your Streamyx username
  3. Type in your Streamyx password
  4. Select “Enable IPv6“

TM has since activated IPv6 for its customer. By enabling IPv6, it doesn’t make your internet connection superior; if you’re wondering. TM randomly auto assign IPv4 and IPv6 when you connected to the internet.

Step Three: Setup SSID

  1. Wireless ID: Give your wireless network a special name.
  2. Security Type: Select “WPA”
  3. Network Key: Type in a strong 13 characters password (Max 64 characters).
    (Pair with capital & small letter, numbers and special symbols ~!@#$%^&*() password)

Step 4: Verify details, click “Save” and you’re done!

  4. Hello bro. I’d like to ask a question about my modem. My modem is same model as above.

    The problem is that the internet connection keep becoming limited if nobody is using the internet or browsing anything in some period of time. And the light indicator show nothings wrong. For example, when I go to sleep at night with phone connected to wifi, and next morning internet become limited but phone still connected. I have to restart the modem to get back the internet connection. Even if I’m not using the internet or browsing anything for like 20 minutes, it become limited already. There’s sometime where I had to restart the modem for like 10 times in one day. It’s tiring.

    But, if I keep using the internet for browsing or streaming, nothing happens. I once download torrent for 4 days, and nothing happens. Everything go smoothly. Can you help me identify the problem? I will be grateful if you provide a solution as well. Thank you.

    • Bro,

      I’m not sure what happen, but the simplest solutions probably just get a new modem. This modem is old, slow, bad signal coverage and it’s a wireless G modem — very very very slow.

      I may not be able to help you with your case, but I have been thinking what might cause the issue. Just guessing.

      I) What phone were you using? Does your phone auto terminate services to preserve battery?

      2) If you’re using Android, do you think it might be possible that your phone was infested with malware that keep breaking your modem to gain access and because of that your modem auto log you out. You may seem connected but you can’t actually using the internet.

      3) If you can torrent for 4 days straight, I assume you are using a PC — if that was the case, your modem is not the problem. You have a problem with the phone.

      4) You probably owned the latest and greatest phone that make full use of the Wireless N and beyond technology. Your phone might be supporting Wireless G but probably there’s a bug somewhere that hinders the connectivity.

      That’s what cross my mind. I hope it helps.

  6. hi, i already follow the 1st and 2nd step.. but it says, authentication fail. If my last 4 digit H123, then i should put the password Adm@H123? the ‘H’ need to be capitalised also?

    • Hi, yes you need to follow exactly. It’s case sensitive.

      If it doesn’t work, you will need to refer to your modem manual or the box to see if the ID/password was printed there.

    Im using this tm modem too, recently this modem internet light suddenly off and disconnected, then its DSL, LAN lights off too and TM logo light changed to red color and it auto restart the connection. This have happen many times.
    Is this a modem problem/ faulty or tm line problems ?
    Pls advise.

    • Hi James,

      If you have use this modem for few years, probably it’s time to buy a new one.

      If the logo keep getting red I believe the internet connection is having some issue.

      Call 100, they can trouble shoot for you on the spot. The easiest to reach out to TM is via your TM online account (mytm.tm.com.my) use the chat system to talk to them.

    I’ve login the setup using username tmuser and the same for its paswword.
    Im not using tmadmin and Adm@**** as it doesnt work. How could it happen?
    After that,
    How do I get streamyx username and password?
    Should i call 100 or it has its default?

    • HI, Please use your own modem login ID and password to login. Do not use the Adm@*** if it is different than my tutorial.

      As for Streamyx ID & Password;
      You need to call 100 to reset your password.**
      You can get your Streamyx ID from your bill.

      ** alternatively if you have register yourself with MYTM (https://mytm.tm.com.my) you can reset your own Streamyx password from there.

  16. this modem keep corrupting any file bigger than 100 MB that i download. i been focusing on my computer for a fix for months and when i divert my attention to this shit modem it GOT TEMPORARILY FIXED. does anyone experienced this problem? what shit did they disabled in their modem settings to get it fixed??

    • I have never had any issue with big files download over my 20 years of experience in downloading files from the internet and you are have a very interesting issue.

      Try use a public DNS like the one provide by Google https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

      The DNS provided TM 1.9.1.9 probably was the culprit because I have issue download file hosted in the US — Example Apple.com.

      • yeah trust me. my life as a network security geek and graduate this was my first time encountering this problem and it was horrible since i was figuring out the solution for months. google DNS is a-ok since its just a host domain resolver name. i never used the default dns provided cuz i know it sux bawls lol.

        It is a big problem since my phone update its firmware and the firmware corrupted and so on. basically any devices that had a firmware update is screwed and i had to figure out how to re-roll or reset the whole damn thing.

        anyway i had it fixed or .. a workaround. i changed the MTU & TCP MSS and right now I am regularly downloading random rar files to check if there is no auto-update which rewrite my settings.

        Finally i just vented off to innacom support by demanding their old drivers or latest drivers so i can get THEIR problem fixed on my end and save them the trouble from using an ounce of their brain cells which probably doesnt even exist.

        ohhh my god im so angry with their quality. i think ill buy a new american brand router later to permanently fix this problem.

    • Log in to your modem and change your modem password and wifi password. The theft will not be able to use your Wifi anymore.

    I have problem with the login. After I logged to the TM 196.168.1.1/login.htm , it redirected me to 196.168.1.1/login.cgi with a blank page. Any idea why?

    • John, try using different browser to test. If all browsers give you the same blank screen, I can only assume your modem have been strike by thunder. If so, please get a new modem. This modem sucks!

    • Hi, kalau you pakai modem lama; kemungkinan besar modem dah ada masalah. Kalau modem baru, ini sepatutnya tak berlaku. Guna cabel computer untuk akses modem dan buat setting semula. Ikut arahan di atas.

    • saya reset gak aritu …baru je lepas reset semalam 28 dis 2015…pas reset, wifi takde… so saya on balik modem, macam biasa… pastu saya tekan WPS button yang belakang modem tu…so sy masuk wifi pakai WPS tu je…then setting balik macam bro thisbeast tulis di atas…. saya buat jadi hehehe…try ler korang…

    • The Streamyx password and user ID was given to you after your Streamyx registration with TM. if you don’t have it, check your Streamyx bill, User ID should be listed on the bill. To get the password please call TM at 100 from your house phone.

    I have streamyx at my home bangi but not in my second house seremban. I’m planning to install my streamyx manually at seremban so the question is, Can i use the same streamyx account in the modem settings?

    I have another modem and plans to install streamyx manually at seremban using the same streamyx account (bangi).

    • Hi Low,

      You definitely can use the same setup. However, I am not sure if it works. (You can report of it works, if you happen to try it out)

      The reason why I am not confident it will work is because the account was link to the service number/ phone number.

      I never try it.

      • Thanks for the reply. I have purchased TP-Link W8951ND. So far working fine. Seems like it is the standard model these days(at least in the mall that I went). Suitable for our local streamyx speed if stay in a small apartment(if bigger house then can try the 300mbps variant. Come with two antennas). This model comes with two years warranty too. Only RM69. Probably your other readers might be interested to try this model out =)

          • It is suitable for ppl who have a low budget in mind. haha. This 600mbps thing… Isn’t it unachievable yet in our country? Even like times also is offering only 100mbps. Whereas for streamyx it is probably around 20mbps only. Please correct me if I am wrong as I have limited knowledge in this field. Thanks =D

            • If you have a modem that supports 600Mbps, it doesn’t mean you must have a connection from ISP with a matching speed.

              The reason you also want a modem that supports higher speed and wider coverage is so you can stream contents locally. Example, a full HD movie that you store on your hard drive, songs, photos, lot of devices connected to your modem and etc… The more devices the more activity the better to have a modem that supports higher bandwidth modem.

              At home I stream movies with Apple TV, Kode (movie), full HD movie on my local, one MacBook, 2 iPhone, 1 iPad, and a one other phone. Sometime I stream with HyppTV for local news.

              The only time my fullHD dropped frame (local drive) was when I try to push higher bitrate.

              So that’s how I use my modem, modem like the one provided by TM will not work the way I want it to.

      Kalau cable boleh pakai, WiFi tak dapat – saya rasa hanya ada dua kemungkinan saja.

      1) configure salah
      2) modem rosak

    Really need your help here. Been using this modem with no problem on my 2 laptops and mobile phones. however, once I got my new macbook pro, it just can’t connect to the wifi at all. What should I do. From what I know, connection is under WEP. Is there any issue? Thanks!

    • I’m not sure if the newer OS on MacBook Pro or any other Mac really allow/support WEP. You might want to try set your modem to WPA/WPA2.

      I saw a forum, people having your same issue with new Mac.

      Try change the WiFi setting on your modem to WPA/WPA2

    • I’m not sure. You would first need to connect to the WiFi — I’m not sure what’s the default WiFI access to this modem. Some modem like Belkin have already preconfigured WiFi access which you can connect with any WiFi devices (with your phone). Unless you owned a Belkin, I’m not sure other modem have preconfigured WiFi. You can try though. (check the manual)

    pass: Adm@FF32 (shown at the bottom of modem)
    but still, i cant access to the modem… keep showing me invalid username or password

    • Is your modem new? TM fix it for you? I have one that was fixed by TM and I have never reset the modem, so I’m not sure whats the password. You can try;

      userid: admin
      password: admin

      See if it work.

      Please make sure you use a cable, not over the wifi. (though I doubt you’re using wifi 🙂 )

    • Hi, actually you can follow the same instructions here. It’s a same configuration; maybe slightly different but actually the same. If I make sense. Hahaha

    • perhaps you have to reset modem to restore default settings, if you have changed access settings so you no more can access your modem

    • you can get new firmware from modem vendor site, ensure HW revision and model exactly matching, dont flash over wifi, use ethernet cable.
      Instructions usually provided by vendor, on the page where you can download firmware.

    • I assume you have already download the firmware from http://www.innacomm.com.my/?page_id=22

      However, I don’t encourage you to update the firmware, I don’t think Innacomm modem is reliable. I would encourage you to buy a new modem and have full speed experience.

      The instruction how to update is on the same page from Innacomm.

    • Hard to tell. If your PC have got malware it will does that.

      Modern OS also choose to update system when your system is idle.

    • takde internet access macam mana? Modem light semua okay (green light semua?) tapi tak dapat connect ke internet dengan laptop, phone dll.

    • LOL sounds like you have your old modem broken and no choice but to use this one for temporary. I feel you. I hated this modem so much that I buy a new one within week of using it. I too can not handle the slow speed and bad connection around my house. The worse modem ever.

    • Hi, very easy; just reset your modem and follow instruction above to reconfigure your modem again. Make sure you remember Streamyx password.

    • Yang tu technical sikit. Saya rasa modem ni tak dapat buat macam tu. You boleh block tapi tak dapat reduce speed mana-mana ip. You boleh cari software untuk buat sedemikian tapi saya rasa software yang terdapat di internet kebanyakanya ada malware. Malaslah saya nak try. hahaha 😉

      Reset modem akan padam segala infomasi yang Missconfused masukan sebelum ini. Jikalau you dah lupa password dan ID streamyx you boleh call TM di talian 100 untuk maklumat yang Missconfused perlukan.

    • Hi, you can try 192.168.0.1

      if it does’t work for you, maybe you are not connected to your wifi network? You can try use cable instead of WiFi just to make sure you are connected to your own network.

      I would also suggest you to check your modem handout to look for the default ip address to log in.

      • Hey .. I just got a new wifi modem .. the technician said to follow the instruction in the manual to determine ur id and password .. I use my phone internet first to open the browser .. however, I cant open the web which is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 .. my phone intrnet was fine .. please help me !

            • Actually it’s very easy 🙂 look at the back panel, you should see a very tiny hole; use a pin or needle to poke and hold for few second and your modem should be reset to factory setting.

              Make sure your modem is power on while doing it.

  64. just got this router,technician took the box..thnx for ur info paste here..but i noticed my N dongle hard to connect with this router after few change managed to get connected but only for 3 bar..prev tm d link router managed to get full/ xcelent signal..how come?this router only support G radio??

    • HI Kobir,

      I really hate this modem and yes it’s a Wireless G modem. If you are surfing in a living room where your modem are, I think it’s not an issue at all. If you use this modem on a closed door and your modem is on the other side of the room or living room, then you will have a problem with low signal.

      Perhaps this is due to the design (none sticking out antenna) and it sucks quite a lot. Previously, TM provide quality DLink modem even though it is with only one antenna but the signal is way better than this Innacomm model.

      Anyway, I have since bought a new modem and this one I just put aside as a standby unit.

      P/s: How do you use your N dongle? Do you connect Streamyx modem direct to your PC and your N dongle acted as a wireless router from a PC itself?
