How To Retrieve Files From Emptied Thrash Bin with PhotoRec

Finder

I have deleted 10 thousand vacation photos and some videos from my Mac thinking that it was a cache files.

I’m going to show you a magic how to recover deleted files. I’m sorry if you have already did the Secured Empty Trash (which in my case — I did not) you will lost the data forever.

The price tag for this lesson is USD99 and please bank in to me at the end of this class. Welcome to simple 1 2 3 steps on how to recover your deleted files from your trash can!

Download PhotoRec

  1. Please download the magic files from cgsecurity.org. Good news! work on DOS, Windows, Linux, and also OS2.
  2. Please make sure your Mac OS X: Snow Leopard installed with “Rosetta”. Rosetta was not a default installation on Snow Leopard. How to install Rosetta?
  3. please unzip your download files to your desktop or anywhere in your harddrive and open the folder “darwin” and click on “photorec” to start rescuing your deleted files.

Using PhotoRec

Using Photorec can be tricky with simple Terminal screen. Follow the default, you should be alright. Another thing you need to take note is that, the search and rescue mission can be time consuming so please select the file types you want to rescue only.

Photorec

Photorec, My files please come back to me!

Tips

Since the search and rescue takes DAYS I suggest letting Photorec running. You can close your Macbook (do not shut down) and when you open it later it will still continue running.

There are a lot of commercial app out there that can cost $99 or more but PhotoRec is free. You can donate to the developer if you want to.

No more saying good bye to your files, ever!

my advise to every one who uses a Windows to really properly/securely delete your files that you REALLY do not want people to see. For Mac “secure empty Trash” come in handy.

nothing is safe in this world! right in front of you!
