I just found out Friendster is dead! RIP Friendster. It was a lot of fun back in the days.

I found a great article about the founder of Friendster Jonathan Abrams on Mashable.

Here’s what I found interesting;

Facebook bought Friendster’s entire portfolio of social networking patents for a reported $40 million.

Does MOL know about this prior to the purchase of Friendster? Friendster has no soul by the time, MOL bought the social network. By “soul” I mean the patents that suppose to make a social network a social network.

I imagine Friendster like a second hand car selling. The engine which is the most important part was sold to Facebook and then, the car’s body — the less important was sold to MOL as a scrap.

Well, too bad for Malaysian company that wanted to buy a diamond, but instead end up a junk in a making.
