D-Link DSL-2750U Streamyx Broadband Setup

How-to Setup Streamyx Broadband Account on D-Link DSL-2750U Wireless N ADSL2+

It a trending question lately about DSL-2750U. I love my D-Link DSL-2750U and I have not been disappointed by the awesome signal inside and outside my house.

This is how I setup my D-Link Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router. I normally do not install any software from the CD that come with the unit.

Streamyx Account

Please make sure you have your details ready — check your Streamyx application form which you have pre-select during registration with Telekom.

  • Streamyx Account Username (users@streamyx)
  • Streamyx Account Password

Login to your D-Link DSL-2750U Modem with Mac OS or Windows

Step One

Please log in to your modem with standard Username & Password.

Open your browser and enter http://192.168.1.1

  • Username: admin
  • Password: admin
  • Validate Code: Enter what you see on screen

Step Two

Go to the SETUP > Setup Wizard

You will go through 5 simple self-explanatory processes.

Step Three

Type in your current password (admin) and replace it with your desire new password.

Step Four

I let mine automatically retrive and update time & date via dlink.com

Step Five

You should use PPPoE. Some may find PPPoA can be use without a problem, always stick to PPPoE if you are not sure.

Select from the drop down menu

  • Country
  • Internet Service Provider
  • Protocol

The rest — You should stick to the default setting.

Step Six

Give your network a unique name (SSID) and choose a password for your network (WPA2)

Last Step

Verify your setting and hit okay and you’re good to go. Your modem will now automatically reboot and will start connecting to the internet.

Trouble Shooting

If you follow the instructions and your telephone line is in working order, you should have no problem getting your modem to work.

Still having trouble?

  1. Make sure your Streamyx Account has a correct User ID & Password. Try log on to your Streamyx Account.
  2. Make sure your Modem DSL light is stable/ On.
  3. If Your DSL light is stable — light indicator on “Internet” should “blink” to establish an internet connection.
  4. Re-check your setting or reset your modem. Use a pin to reset your modem and repeat the setup above.
  5. Re-Check your DSL splitter — try swap cable around  (phone line and modem line).
  6. If you have a spare modem (old working modem) try using it to cross check your telephone connection is in proper order.
  7. Pick up your phone and check the noise level (not Dial Tone). If too high you will have to call Telekom to fix it.
  8. Most silly mistake — forgot to plug in the telephone cable.

    I cannot get Malaysia or Streamyx on the first 2 drop-down selections

    Is this a problem causing me not able to connect?

    • Hey Zax!

      I think your more likely not connected to the Internet. If you’re connected but no ip, you have to call your telco already.

      Check if your modem DSL Is stable and Internet light indicator is on green.

  3. Hi Bro …With DLink 2750U , I am not able to connect my Linux / Ubuntu Laptop and Symbian (Nokia) devices . Signals are dropping and connection is extremely slow.

    Whereas Windows and Android devices are working fine .

    Can you please help me with a solution………

    • Hi Deb, what driver are you using for Ubuntu?
      If your card is Broadcom
      You can try between 3 drivers: brcmsmac (no firmware needed), b43 (legacy driver with vendor firmware) and wl (proprietary broadcom driver)
      maybe you can get better results with using other driver.

      • Are you a linux expert ? Do you know how to change the names of the network interfaces?I want to get more meaningful than eth0 and wlan0

        • Its standart names, i wonder why do you want get anything else, but for older linux you can use /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file, for never systemd based – ifrename utility.

          • Next question that may describe why i want to rename interfaces : do you know how to create a virtual VLAN 802.1q interfaces? I need a lot of them and each vlan interface must have a meaningfull name.
            PS: I ll answer on your wifi question later

    I tried to change my streamyx password but after tat my laptop cannot connect to wifi, it’s said “network authentication,please enter user credentials”, how to fix it. My other device like mobile phone can connect to wifi, only the laptop can’t

    • Dear Yanty, Hi!

      Try disable and enable your Wifi on your laptop. Try reconnect again. See if it work.

  5. Bro I’m having a problem with my streamyx hope u can get me the work done… I cannot connect into my streamyx but I can use the wifi n I change it to the new modem dlink dsl2750u

      Actually I don’t really get you, problem with Streamyx but can use WiFi? Streamyx is not a modem problem then. You probably need to check with Telekom.

    The DSL LED on the modem is not glowing after switching on the modem, what could be the problem?

    • Hi Gururaj,

      I guess it depend. Base on my experience with my own modem, it’s either your ISP having internet issue/not active or your modem is not working properly.
