I took a peep at Chromium OS developer copy the open source project by Google.

I just want to take a look at the UI and the idea around the OS.

If Chromium OS can do what we normally do on a normal PC that would be so awesome.

Features?

  • Start as fast as you switch on your DVD player or MP3 player.
  • Access your apps as fast and without installing.
  • You don’t need gigabyte of space to watch movie or listen to music… You just stream it over the internet.

All you need is virtual disk space, high speed internet connection and stay connected 24/7 — isn’t that also mean the downside of it? 🙂

  1. It’s an interesting idea, but in the end, I really don’t know, if people will like it. I got Google wave and I don’t use it and don’t need it. It’s boring. So I wonder, if Google didn’t make another thing, that’s great and revolutionary, but people just won’t use. We shall see.

    • MKL, I got Google wave too… hahahaha got it yesterday, invited by a friend. Quite bored 🙂

I remember when Gmail was damn boring too but for some reason Google find its way to lure people into it and was now somewhat the most use webmail. If you know how to, you can make use of the mail space for storage too.

I think Chromium OS look promising just not at the final stage just yet… green and growing 🙂

  2. Ohh yeah what the heck I should do that! change my password!

    you’re right! it’s just a barenaked browser.

I run it on Virtualbox and I think it’s not really running 100% and in fact after clicking few apps it got hanged!

I have downloaded VMware player let see if it will run properly. I hope I downloaded the right stuff hahahhaha

  3. thanks for an Gmail invite, checked it out myself, not much impression, just a barenaked browser , battery, wifi applet, i wish to check whats under the hood, but that will definitely take time ) Google published build instructions for Chromium OS, so everyone can make their own build.
It is named “Chromium OS” and browser is “Chromium” with logo being colored blue,
while official OS and browser are named “Chrome” with colourful logo, only Google can release “Chrome” (Chrome OS is to be purchased with new netbooks/other at this point / as they announced), while Chromium is not covered by any proprietary trademarks.

    resume: TOO THIN! )

    • and btw, i have changed my google password after testing that OS image,
its from an unknown source, so i cant exclude the possibility that it wasnt hijacked

    • Windows 98 and explore 2??????????? ahahhahahah I like you hahahahhaha

ohhh I’m sorry speedy 🙂 I am sorry that I am that bad hahahah so you don’t understand what’s Chromium at all eh? hehehhehehe don’t worry… at least now you heard it and see some screen shot first hand from me although you don’t understand it heheheheheh

    • Someday you’ll see terminals running ChromeOS in internet cafe’s,
when wimax/3g will be spread everywhere ChromeOS will be good choice for PDA or thin things like netbooks. Its good for small , medium and even big business, an OS built on a web browser which access everything remotely (i.e. Google Docs instead of an Office suite). Chrome is for thin clients and cloud computing, but its abilities as traditional OS is very limited, you cant even use it without network.

And btw code is open and free to modify if you need a special build.
