I have switched to Digi and Maxis last week; Digi for their call plan and Maxis for their data plan. I am a Celcom user for many years, probably since 2005. Before Celcom I was with Maxis for many years too.
Why the switch?
My Celcom iPhone 4 contract has ended. #awesomeness
Celcom Internet service was really bad recently. The mediocre service is a good thing, it prompts me to study the package they sold to me.
Turn out my current Celcom’s iPhone 4 call plan was exactly the same as DG Postpaid Simple; Voice Calls 15 cents per minute and SMS 10 cents per message. With DG Postpaid Simple at the value of RM100 and only need to pay for RM50, now everyone can call!
What about the Maxis wireless-broadband? Celcom gave me 2GB with RM68 fee that I have to pay every month. Maxis broadband on the other hand give me 8GB of data and a free MiFi modem with the same price of RM68. Now everyone can go mobile!
The experience with two devices
I am now carrying two gadgets everywhere I go; my iPhone and the Huawei MobileWiFi E5331. It seems pretty stupid to bring two devices. So what is the impact?
- The immediate change; my two year old iPhone’s battery lasts the whole day.
- I can share my data with my wife without draining my iPhone battery.
- At home, I am using Streamyx (ADSL Broadband). Just yesterday the telephony cable (copper line) was stolen. Many lost their internet access, I am happily surfing away.
- And there is a constant power failure at my housing area, am worried no more. I am now surfing the internet with less worry, the thought of conserving battery at the same time as you surf is stressful.
What do you think of my approach? The freedom of choice? Everyone has their opinion, what’s yours? Leave your comment down below.
