Canon EOS Cashback Claim

My last post on How to claim for the RM300 cashback from Canon is not as easy as a walk in the park. I registered my Canon EOS 100D and received the approval for 2 year warranty but no link to claim my RM300 cashback.

Canon EOS 100D Warranty

I try to email them and the email failed to send because the email provided was not found in the system. I request help from ShaShinki and while writing this post I send another email to helpdesk@cmm.canon.com.my. I found out much later that the actual email was digitaleos_cmm@cmm.canon.com.my.

Canon EOS email Failed

The warranty email has a link to ePromo site and it works fine. If you log in to your account from warranty page and click on the “ePromo” button, the link will not work.

ePromo link not working

Conclusion

First of all, the information printed should be clear and accurate. The email address with a missing underscore should not be happening.

Second, if Canon has made a promise then make sure it is delivered. The promotion + customer service should wow customer. It’s a shame; I should not be the person to email them about the cashback missing link. Imagine you ordered a BigMac Meal at McDonald’s but the counter crew forgotten to deliver the fries after you have finished your drink and BigMac.

And thirdly, the warranty email seems to make me feel special (with the ePromo link) but as I try to access the content from a registered user account, the link wouldn’t work. The whole incident takes away the excitement and positive experience. http://www.canon.com.my/personal/web/yourcanon/epromo?languageCode=EN

The online shopping experience from Canon website and the customer service is a very poor one. It is just this little thing, this small thing that makes it hard to recommend the service to everyone.

If you are not so particular about experience and service, then it should not be a big deal.

[box]Here’s one online shop I highly recommend. ShaShinKi, as of this writing, had already replied my email and offer to forward my request to Canon’s salesmen. It’s 10.45PM and that’s a service you can rely on.[/box]
