Apple Introducing iPhone 5 without NFC

iPhone 5 Camera Sapphire Crystal

The unique relationship customers with their iPhone is important and the new design did not take away too much of what makes iPhone a success.

New iPhone 5 is thinner, lighter, 4″ Retina Display, 8MP iSight camera, Ultrafast wireless, A6 processor came with Earpods in the box, and it is now sold out in the US!

No Near Field Communication (NFC) for iPhone 5

I’m not surprise Apple did not include NFC. It maybe useful but at a higher cost for consumers and merchant to have this system implemented. I certainly will not welcome added cost for technology that I will not be able to enjoy.

In Malaysia, We have Visa Wave where you can simply wave your Visa card at a scanner at certain merchant outlets to make payment. The concept was awesome but unfortunately not many of us are actually using it. The only successful implementation we can see in Malaysia are Touch & Go.

Who would use NFC on a daily and regular basis? If you’re not going to use it everyday why would you want it on your phone?

We heard very little awesome news, almost none, about the productivity the NFC brings in our day to day life. Does the technology ready for prime time? Maybe the better question is do you want NFC part of your communication needs when there are abundance of alternative?

In 2006, Nokia 6131 was the first NFC phone and we haven’t yet notice the significant benefit it brings to our communication needs.

Apple certainly calling the shots and a very careful not to include NFC on iPhone 5.
